A I M

A.I.M 15th

I haven’t seen it in almost…IDK how many years. When they siad this year its gonna be a blast, I try to watch it without any complaints. And my votes are… Yes, they did some changes in the industries. They did puts some sparks in the show and events this year. BUT, I was only entertainted during the first 10-15 minutes of the program. Its when they started nominating for artist non malays and other races. After watching it, I finaly know that indian artist group that I’ve always heard in Minnal fm radio. Finaly see who they are and at lease now, I can go and find the album myself rather than asking my indian friends by giving faded information to them to look for it. =j

Heh… I did listen to other radio stations like I told you guys before. The only difference with me is, I don’t understand the language at all. Although I’m kinda dissapointed with the results. I mean, Yogi B (also known as a member of the Poetic Ammo) has been in the industries for quite some time too. But nothing was given to him. Infact, he should be in the top choices. I agree that his songs were not much played in the radio but he should deserve something as pioniering the indian music scenes in hip hop. I think if it wasn’t for him, most indian songs remains in the indian community. Poetic Ammo’s first appearance few years back did gave that impact for us “malays” to start listening to the songs beside Shah Rukh Khan’s impresenation of singing albums. Heck… I think, every Bollywood artist don’t sing. Its just a gimmic of entertainment for sale. Still, I was bopping my head to the beatbox sound when the boomerangx performed. I loved those guys. They really are good. And don’t forget, Velocity, by Estranged. Whoa yeah… that’ll give a smack to the faces of their so called fans of malay concept music. That song was the reason I bought the album. At first, I didn’t notice the 2 malay songs in the CD, really, I didn’t. The guy in the store was playing it and I happen to be browsing. So I ask, what band? He just say it’s a new malay band, so to show support, I got one for me. Cool song, huh? =j

Anyway, bout that “Here In My Home” thing. I was only a little pleased with the whole “Artist Unity” stuff coz it’s a good thing. But I’ll see what its all about when I look at the vids on that site later. I only question is, WHY NOW? After all these years of bragging bout being “universal” and “Malaysian” only now they started to put out music as a unity and not barriered by language? I think we could have done this thing 5-7 years ago. Why is that? Is it because of the critics that “you know who” wrote in their jounals and pages? They have done so for years. Or is it after that chinese guy wrote a song bout descremanation in our national anthem? Yeah, you remember? That one we sued for doing so. The one that some of us were so angry bout and wanted to get ridd of?

In my eyes, what ever action we take on him, would only prove what he sang is true… and he won the battle in getting the words to public.(we gotta admit, he beat us to it =j). That’s Hip-Hop. A cultural music scene where most songs are from the urban life and experience of the M.Cs. or did you guys not know? Or are we so pleased with the idea of Hip-Hop as a music bout love? Time for some extra research on origins? =j
