To Buy O Not To Buy

A blogger friend asked me in her sms, why should we support our Malaysian music scene. I can only gave her the lame pathetic answers that even i felt were only said but never done fully. WHO ELSE WOULD SUPPORT OUR SCENE IF NOT US?

Yes, i said its lame. Because i think we've heard this shit over a million times in every music media, but not much is seen. by god, i know, there are thousands of talented Malaysians out there in music. I cant remember how many stores are allowing our underground groups to place their sample album or demos in a local music stores, besides Aunty's shop in Campbell Complex. So what, if they don't sell? At lease they would know what to adjust in their work from the feedback from buyers of the store, wouldn't it?

some of you like a few songs that i uploaded here in my album, but did anybody know where i got it? what genre the band played? last year, i upload a lot of gothical bands that most people would recommend me not to listen at all. then later this year, i saw a whole lot of users that uploaded songs from the bands that they ought to look at the genre again. yeah, maybe you'd say, its just for the music, not the culture that got you into it. but then why did some people say I'm too deep in the scene stuff? too ego with my favorite genre and only think bout my kinda music shit?

hey, at lease i don't upload the blood and sweat of our own artist that i would call, SUCKS, and give it away free for their fans. even i go to the store and took my money out and buy their CD to complain my views about. thats my support for my own country-mens' effort in music, even if i don't like em at all. and sometimes we didn't know that the band and artist that we never liked their music, is not so bad at all.. I personally have experience this issue by buying The Estranged Album. If the store guy, which happens to be Aunty's husband, played their Malay song ITU KAMU that were not my type of thing, instead of Velocity over and over, i wouldn't think that I'd be interested to try their album. So did anybody have the same experience like that? Ever went like, When you think a band or singer is not your type of music, you later found that you were actually their fan in the very beginning? You never knew them because you don't like their main genre?

Throughout the whole year, i noticed that most stuff that was getting boring for me to know, is now playing in our t.v and radios like it was a new hit. (and not just the music too). So i guess i was a bit blurry to answer my friends question as i got the sms. Maybe i feel that my own answers, needed some questioning as well. Are we really doing what we said? Are we really supporting our local music scene? Or are we having fun uploading and downloading free music? hmm... it did makes me wonder again.. did we really support our scenes? and as for my friend, if you're reading this. I cant give you any direct answers to your question WHY, but ... WHO ELSE WOULD SUPPORT US IN OUR OWN SCENE, BUT OURSELF?
