So in all the excitement I was having, I must've forgotten my roots awhile. On the following year, everything change, as my mom got sick. Really sick. She was diagnosed with sort of new pelvic cancer virus. The doctors didnt know how to stop its spread to her blood stream. Standard operations didnt do its job well.
Now, one thing I can say bout that is, my mom, is like our Malaysian Medical Research Lab-Rat. She always end up with these kinda things. She was the first patient in Perak to be found with Taun, also among the first to be diagnosed with Polio and Dengue fever. Her name in the Ipoh and H.K.L is what the doctors call, difficult cases.
(Don't be mad at me, spelling that out, its a fact. Besides, she wouldn't understand a word of whats in here even if she is watching me typing this now. lol. I love u mom.)
Anyway, her condition made me not able to put my head to where it should be. I was worried, wouldn't you be? All my money was on her. I took a lot of unpaid leaves just to accompany her to the hospital until she got detained. My work progress got less admirable by my employer. I was just too worried to think bout anything else. (See, its never that lucky being a single child. Everything is on your shoulders)
Finally, we got a break, after bout 4-5 months of operations and check ups, the doctors finally found a way to kill the virus.
(Like I said, a lab-rat)
But the cancer took toll on my mom's health. Doctors warned her not to do anymore hard labor. With that, she ended her over 30 years career as a maid. So I was thinking bout taking care of her in my place, but my mom got other plans. She didn't want to live in KL anymore. She had enough of the fuzz that didn't get her anything. I have to agree with that, we were tired of the city rules and regulations for our country's system.
Hey dont get me wrong, I'm not protesting on our governments policies. Its just that we're kinda tired of waiting. Anyway, my mom wants to live in her village in Perak, but our old house was too wrecked up to live in. So she had to live with her brothers house nearby. She planned to rent a place somewhere in Perak after everything was ok.
At first, I thought everything is alright, coz she didnt mention any problem to me everytime I went there for a visit. But one day, I meet a villager that happens to be in KL for a few days. He told me that my mom doesnt look too happy being there. They asked me if I send some money to her, coz they knew that my mom was planning to rent a place of her own. I did, every month, as much as I could afford to give. That got me wondering, what did she do with the money? Because its quite a lot too.
So after a few more months, I returned to see her, and she finally let it out. Her brothers and sister use the money for their own needs. Its been awhile since they did, that's why she couldn't get to rent her own place. That really made me mad. They did that since I started working and living alone. My relatives only know when to asked for help but never gave any to us. I never cared if they didn't help me, but my mom? Their own flesh and blood, that they knew had no other place to go? There on, I quit my job in the sport shop and take all my savings out to get her a house quite far from them.
I lived with her for awhile until she settled down. With not working we knew that no matter how much we have wont last to survive. So she thought of starting a small stall there selling nasi lemak. We took the basic needs for a stall and cooking equipments for her. Its kinda awkward for us because we never did this kinda thing before. But it did help the money rolling back.
